Here is a list of the current Fermenta scholarships opportunities. The scholarships are divided among our three scholarship categories. Please take note of the scholarship description, date, application deadline, and requirements before applying.

- College Textbooks – reimbursement of up to $200 for books purchased in one of four eligible programs
This opportunity is considered an Continuing Education scholarship. Requirements for this scholarship are as follows.
- You must be female, 21 years of age and a current Fermenta member Active Professional or Associate).
- Applications must be received by the deadline listed.
- Only one application per member per opportunity will be accepted.
- Members may only win once per 12 month period.
- Scholarships not used within 12 months of receipt will be forfeit.
- Recipients must provide feedback of the experience to Fermenta in the form of a written report, online blog, photo album, in-person presentation, or other mutually agreed upon format.
- Rights to publish such report and photographs of the winner are granted to Fermenta.
- Board Members and Scholarship Committee Members are ineligible to win

Additional Requirement: must be enrolled in a course some time during the 2016 calendar year.
Details: If you are currently enrolled in, or plan to enroll in, and of the four programs listed below, Fermenta would like to sponsor you with a text book scholarship up to $200. Scholarship recipients must be current Fermenta members and be able to provide proof of enrollment in one of the programs (listed below) during the 2016 calendar year. What if you already started classes in the spring and already purchased books? No problem! Provide us a receipt and Fermenta will reimburse up to $200 in text book costs.

- Zingerman’s Cocktail Class: An Evening to Rum-ember by Zingerman’s Cornman Farms
This opportunity is considered a Beginning/Entry Level Education scholarship. Requirements for this scholarship are as follows.

You will taste three varieties of rum: silver, gold and dark. Details: : Zingerman’s Farms is exploring Tiki culture, its roots both in Hollywood and in the islands of Polynesia, and three classic Tiki cocktails using fruit, rum, and special syrups made just for this event. (“We may even set one on fire!”) This offering includes farm-fresh snacks and the recipes for all the cocktails and syrups featured in this class. Hawaiian shirts encouraged! - BJCP Mead Exam by Beer Judge Certification Program
This opportunity is considered a Certification/Conference scholarship. Requirements for this scholarship are as follows.
- You must be female, 21 years of age and a current Fermenta member Active Professional or Associate).

- Only one application per member per opportunity will be accepted.
- Members may only win once per 12 month period.

Date: Entrance Exam (must pass prior to Mead Exam), BJCP Mead Exam January 2017
Location: Entrance Exam (online), BJCP Mead Exam will be held in Troy, MI
Details: This opportunity will reimburse a Fermenta member for their Entrance Exam Fee, and pay for their BJCP Mead Exam after passing the Entrance Exam. (Per the BJCP, passing the Entrance Exam is a requirement to register for the 2017 BJCP Mead Exam.) The Mead Exam must be taken within one year of passing the Entrance Exam.
The Entrance Examination consists of 200 questions in 60 minutes. The style is multiple choice, true-false and multiple answer questions which are test your knowledge of mead styles, mead characteristics and the mead making process. The BJCP Mead Judging Examination is closed book and requires judging six meads competition-style, with the scoresheets evaluated on the basis of scoring accuracy, perception, descriptive ability, feedback and completeness. Note: you can apply for this scholarship even if you have not taken the Entrance Exam yet. If the scholarship recipient does not successfully pass the Entrance Exam or fails to register for the Mead Exam, we will revisit the scholarship applications and award the scholarship to the next qualified candidate – retroactively if necessary.
