Below you will find a list of Fermenta continuing education opportunities that are offered at this time. Please review the requirements and details for each offering before you apply.

Requirements for Fermenta Continuing Education Opportunities:

  • You must be female and a current Active Member of Fermenta.
  • Applications must be received by the deadline listed.
  • Only one application per member per opportunity will be accepted.
  • Members may only win once per Scholarship category (Beginner or Entry Level, Continuing Education, Certifications & Conferences) every 12 month period. Within 12 months, you are eligible to win multiple scholarships, as long as each scholarship is in a unique category.
  • Scholarships not used within 12 months of receipt will be forfeit.
  • Recipients must provide feedback of the experience to Fermenta in the form of a written report, online blog, photo album, in-person presentation, or other mutually agreed upon format.
  • Rights to publish such report and photographs of the winner are granted to Fermenta.
  • Board Members and Scholarship Committee Members are ineligible to win

Michigan Brewers Guild Winter Conference 

Attend the MBG Winter Conference , January 8 – 10, 2020 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel at Kalamazoo Center & Wings Event Center.  This annual event includes several educational seminars and an Allied Trade Show.  If you’ve never been, this is the event of the year!

Fermenta will pay your registration and lodging for 2 nights.

Registration includes the Allied Trade Show on January 8, and the Thursday and Friday sessions, continental breakfast and lunch each day.

This opportunity is considered a Conference/Certification scholarship. Requirements for this scholarship are as follows.

  •  You must be female, 21 years of age and a current Active Fermenta member
  • Applications must be received by midnight of deadline listed.
  • Only one application per member per opportunity will be accepted.
  •  Members may only win once per category per 12 month period.
  •  Scholarships not used within 12 months of receipt will be forfeit.
  • Recipients must provide feedback of the experience to Fermenta in the form of a written report, online blog, photo album, in-person presentation, or other mutually agreed upon format.

UC Davis Online Course, January 2020

UC Davis is offering three different online courses starting January, 2020. The winner of this scholarship can choose one of the three courses listed above. Learn at your own pace through a series of entertaining, hugely informative and easily understandable video lessons with Instructor Charles Bamforth.  Class starts January 6 and runs until March 29.

Short's Brewing Company is Sponsoring a

$500 Scholarship For a Fermentation or Industry Class of Your Choice

If you are a student pursuing an education in the craft beverage industry, this scholarship is for you!  This scholarship is for up to $500 toward a class, online or in person, for Winter 2020 or Spring 2020.  The class must be about fermentation (i.e. brewing, distillation, wine making, etc.) or a course specific to the craft beverage industry (i.e. marketing, brewery management, etc.)

This scholarship will pay for (or reimburse you if you’ve already paid) up to $500, not to exceed the cost of the course.

Great Lakes Hop & Barley Conference 2020

Attend the 6th annual conference, March 5 – 7, 2020 at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest in Ann Arbor.  The conference has a hop track as well as a barley & malt track.  In addition to the usual national speakers, this year there will also be a brewer/grower networking session.  This session will provide growers with a better idea of quality requirements and brewer needs.
